Prof. Wen-Huang Cheng

Title: Opportunities and Challenges of Large-Scale Vision Foundation Models
Biography: Wen-Huang Cheng is Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Taiwan University. His current research interests include multimedia, computer vision, and machine learning. He has actively participated in international events and played important leading roles in prestigious journals and conferences and professional organizations, including Editor-in-Chief for IEEE CTSoc News on Consumer Technology, Senior Editor for IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine, Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (T-MM), General Chair for ACM MMAsia (2023), IEEE ICCE-TW (2023, 2022), IEEE ICME (2022) and ACM ICMR (2021), Chair for IEEE Multimedia Systems and Applications (MSA) technical committee, governing board member for IAPR. He has received numerous research and service awards, including the Best Paper Award of 2021 IEEE ICME and the Outstanding Associate Editor Award of IEEE T-MM (2021 and 2020, twice). He is IEEE Fellow, IET Fellow, ACM Distinguished Member, and CCF Distinguished Member.
Prof. Hirozumi Yamaguchi
Osaka University, Japan
Title: Emerging Trends in Human Sensing and Mobility in Smart Spaces and Cities
Biography: Hirozumi Yamaguchi received his B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, in 1994, 1996, and 1998, respectively. He is currently a full professor at Osaka University and leads the Mobile Computing Laboratory. He has been working in the research areas of cyber-physical systems, mobile and pervasive computing, with a focus on smart cities and smart living. He has taken on roles as an area editor for Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing and Ad Hoc Networks. He has also served as a general chair, TPC chair, or organizing committee member for IEEE conferences, including IEEE PerCom, SmartComp, ICDCN, and EAI Mobiquitous, and has been involved as a technical committee member in numerous mobile computing and wireless communication conferences of IEEE. He has been leading several research projects such as JST CREST and NICT Commission Research as Project Investigator. He was awarded Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2018.
Prof. Jing-Ming Guo
National Taiwan University of Science and Technology
Title: Development Trends and Considerations for Practical Applications of Generative AI
Biography: Prof. Guo is currently a full Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Director of Advanced Intelligent Image and Vision Technology Research Center. He was Vice Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Director of the Innovative Business Incubation Center, Office of Research and Development. His research interests include Big data signal processing, artificial intelligence, digital image/video processing, computer vision. Dr. Guo is a Senior Member of the IEEE and Fellow of the IET.
Dr. Guo is Chapter Chair of IEEE Signal Processing Society, Taipei Section, Board of Governor member of Asia Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association, and President of IET Taipei Local Network. He will be/was General Chair of many international conferences, e.g., APSIPA 2023, IEEE Life Science Workshop 2020, ISPACS 2019, IEEE ICCE-Berlin 2019, IWAIT 2018, and IEEE ICCE-TW 2015. He will be/was Technical Program Chair of many international conferences as well, e.g., IEEE ICIP 2023, IWAIT 2022, IEEE ICCE-TW 2014, IEEE ISCE 2013, and ISPACS 2012. He is/was Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technologies, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Signal Processing Letters, Information Sciences, Signal Processing, and Journal of Information Science and Engineering.
